Maria said: “Yellows will return to their full glory in 2014 and we think it’s about time that this colour had a a bit of a renaissance. Softer, more buttery yellows will be especially popular and we’re already seeing customers favour these tones over the acidic, vibrant yellows commonly associated with summertime.
“Our Horseshoe interior stripe fabric is the perfect yellow for 2014. It’s mixed with rust, blue, purple and cream, making for a lovely match to most existing décor – whether it’s a traditional magnolia wash, mushroom grey paintwork, or stone and wooden flooring. This yellow tone makes for a handsome colour combination with the recently announced Pantone colour of the year, Radiant Orchid, which will be seen on everything in 2014 – from crockery to cardigans, and even coffee machines.
“We’ve noticed an increased awareness from clients in terms of ‘tastefulness’ and believe this will continue into 2014. People are ditching the ‘blingy’ home style, in favour for a more eclectic, effortless look and this is where stripes work wonderfully. Colour clash and mixed patterns were big in 2013 on the catwalks of London Fashion week and this is now translating into interior design. Unexpected pairings can successfully breathe new life into an interior space, without having to invest in a complete redecoration. Try mixing citrus spots with monochrome hound’s-tooth, or traditional tartan with vibrant stripes.
“The predicted paint trend from us has to be pale taupe – a warm beige/grey which lends itself to any interior design combination. It has both a warming and relaxing effect in a kitchen especially and looks really wonderful when coupled with soft purples, sludgey greens and rich raspberry tones.”
